While we had no problem starting up (and eventually falling in love with) Smash Bros. Brawl, just released to Japan yesterday, Japanese game site Mantan Web reports that a few buyers have been having some trouble with the game.

Nintendo confirmed with the site that the game shipped with a bug that affects a small percentage of users. The problem occurs when updating your system firmware, which the Smash Bros. disk automatically does when you first click the disc channel to begin the game. For some users, the Wii will freeze up following the firmware update.

For those faced with this problem, Nintendo has offered a simple solution: simply turn off the power and reinsert the game disc, and you'll be able to play.

Of course, we're sure anyone who did encounter this problem already arrived at Nintendo's solution on their own.
